B.Sc. in Civil Engineering – Noise Protection in Civil Engineering
NEW course syllabus
"Noise Protection in Civil Engineering" is a new subject.
Title | Noise Protection |
Semester | VII |
Status | Optional |
Goal |
Acquiring knowledge about principles of sound protection and elements of sound protection in buildings. |
Outcomes |
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
|
Structure | 45 classes of lectures + 15 classes of exercises in classroom + 15 classes of exercises in laboratory |
Contents |
Physical concepts of noise and vibrations, noise measurement, indoor noise, elements of sound protection in buildings, principles for resolving sound protection in buildings, acoustic quality of building elements, design documentation and procedure of technical acceptance from the point of view of sound protection. Students in the laboratory or in the field perform measurements of sound pressure, sound intensity, reverberation time, insulating power of all types of bulkheads. Broadband noise measurement and analysis, time and frequency domain noise analysis. |
Methods |
Lectures; Tutorial classes; Laboratory classes; Assignments. Laboratory and practical work is performed in the Laboratory for Acoustics and Technical Diagnostics and in field conditions. |
Literature |
|
new teaching materials
Sound calculator, a web application that enables calculations of the basic characteristics of sound and noise.
Coefficient of Sound Absorption, a web application that enables calculations of the coefficient of sound absorption by sound barriers made from various materials.
Reverberation time, a web application that allows calculating the reverberation time in a room with walls lined with different materials.
